American Century Global Small Cap Equity Fund
– a sub-fund of Nomura Funds Ireland
The American Century Global Small Cap Equity fund is designed to generate alpha using a time-tested growth philosophy and process that helps us to identify companies early in their growth cycle. Our goal is to construct a portfolio of companies with small market capitalizations that are located in both developed and emerging market countries.
Investment Approach
The fund seeks to invest in companies with small market capitalizations that are located in both developed and emerging markets, including the United States, and demonstrating accelerating growth.
- Centers on the belief that accelerating growth in earnings and revenues, rather than the absolute level of growth, is more highly correlated to stock price performance.
- Directs us to research different companies than other growth managers, as we do not require an absolute threshold of earnings or revenue growth.
- Allows us to take advantage of both the normal price appreciation that results from a company’s earnings growth and the market’s re-rating of a company’s price-to-earnings multiple.
Potential significant risks
Investing in small capitalisation companies and emerging markets involves unique risks that make it generally riskier than investing in larger capitalisation companies and developed markets. Factors affecting the performance of American Century Global Small Cap Equity Fund include greater price volatility, substantially less liquidity and significantly smaller market capitalization of securities markets, frontier emerging market risk, currency exchange rate fluctuations, greater social, economic and political uncertainty, regulatory and settlement risk and country allocation risk. The fund may invest in derivatives. Risks related to derivatives include market risk, management risk, credit risk, counterparty risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, leverage risk and lack of availability. Additionally, the sub-fund may be subject to income, capital gains or withholding taxes.
