Nomura Funds Ireland – Asia Investment Grade Bond Fund

Our Asian investment Grade Bond fund aims to achieve income gains and capital appreciation through investment in a diversified portfolio of primarily investment grade bonds in Asia Pacific ex Japan region.

Our Investment Approach

Our top-down perspective utilises global macro-economic scenarios and emerging market expectations formulated by our highly experienced investment team.

For bottom-up selections, our credit research team undertakes detailed fundamental analysis to judge the credit-worthiness of the issuers and market valuations relative to their peers. Our securities selection is driven by bottom-up analysis within the context of the “big picture”.

The credit outlook for both sovereigns and corporates in the region is supportive for the asset class, and given the diversity in the Asian region, active management can be expected to add value over the medium-long term.

Potential Significant Risks

The fund is exposed to some credit and credit spread risk, especially in the Asian Region, though in the investment grade universe this risk is limited. The single most important risk factor is the volatility of the US-Treasury curve, as most investments are denominated in US-Dollar. In addition, liquidity risk cannot be avoided in credit markets, though it is closely monitored.
